About Us

Thornton & Wood was started in 1985 by Mick Wood and Nigel Thornton working from Mick's shed at his home in Ravenfield. In 1988 the company became limited and was named Thornton & Wood (UK) Limited.

In the same year we rented Unit 3, Lidget Lane in Bramley, then in 1992 we purchased Units 1, 2 and 3 Lidget Lane and moved into Unit 1 renting out the other units to other small businesses.

Some of our early contracts were all over the UK including hospitals, gas stations, RAF bases and a string of chinese take aways, hence the UK in the name.

In 1998 sadly Mick died at the age of 48 leaving Nigel to carry on in the traditional way the company had developed. Nigel started to concentrate on staying within the South Yorkshire area building up a much bigger local customer base.

We have been continuously trading since 1985.
